The agenda for Monday’s LCVA Board Meeting is at the bottom of the news.
Water Monitoring Fund Raising Update
Folks we have been stuck at $1,585 since Friday, with 22 contributors, 20 individuals and two businesses so far.
We can and need to do better. The purpose of the water monitoring program is to protect our area water sources by being able scientifically document what is happening to 30-35 geologically strategic wells in La Cienega.
We know that the aquifer that feeds our streams, ponds, acequias and well is diminishing. Springs and wells have dried up and we need to gather scientific information to determine what can be done to prevent any further depletion.
Please do what you can to protect the history and traditions of our community. The gofundme site is below. Thank you.

Food Drive Postponed
I was a little late in committing to the food drive so we are postponing our community’s involvement in the Food Depot food drive for the moment. The LCVA will consider holding our own separate drive to the support the Food Depot and the LCVA will provide information on drop off locations for residents wishing to participate in this Saturday’s Food Depot food drive.

Thursday, September 17 – Santa Fe County La Cieneguilla Open Space Planning – La Cieneguilla residents are encouraged to attend.

Halloween Volunteers
The first meeting for residents interested in volunteering to help with the Halloween Festival will be this Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at Kathleen McCloud’s House, 4 Camino Torcido Loop in La Cieneguilla. Appetizers will be provided.
If you can’t make the meeting please email Kathleen at [email protected] to stay in the loop. There will be lots of opportunities to help out as we get closer to the 31st.
Directions to Kathleen’s house:
From La Cienega take Paseo Real past the water tank into La Cieneguilla. Stay straight on Paseo Real and take a right onto Camino Torcido Loop just before the 90 degree curve, the house by the windmill.
Community Party
The planning for the Community Party, October 10 on the infield at The Downs is going well. We will have a community teenage folk-rock group, The Salt and Pepper Shakers performing, kids activities and much more. Details coming soon.
We are looking to see if we can borrow 6-8, 8 foot folding tables and if anyone has a connection for port-a-potties.
