January Community Breakfast
For those of you who missed the community breakfast, Peter Weiss of the La Bajada Steering Committee explained the committee's interest in gathering information and input from our community. Mr. Weiss did not offer any specifics on the Committee's activities but indicated their work is an ongoing process. This brings attention to the presentation by Camilla Bustamonte at the Board meeting Monday night. Camilla is our community representative on the committee and the Board meeting should be an opportunity to discuss our community's interest in the property in detail.
As part of the community story telling, Mr. Weiss and William Mee (president of the Agua Fria Village Association) added historic perspectives to questions from the audience. Mr. Mee told stories of Agua Fria and its long relationship with our community. He told of the boys riding wagons from Agua Fria to dance with the girls of La Cienega and how La Cienega had a great reputation for good wine. JJ Gonzales told the story of the El Canon cross which was first painted to give thanks for the village men returning from World War I and was repainted at the conclusion of other wars to commemorate a safe return to our community. The story telling was a great and entertaining success and may become a regular part of our community breakfast.
