Water Monitoring Project

We are at $1,585 of our $10,000 goal to fund the first two years of our community’s comprehensive water monitoring project. Please take the time to enter the web site below into your web browser and make a contribution. Any amount is appreciated and you don’t have to give your name. There is no more important issue before our community.

Details coming soon on how residents can donate by check. Thank you. http://gofundme.com/mj376qcw

Community Meetings

There are two community meetings to put on your schedule. Both meetings are at 6 p.m. at the La Cienega Community Center.

Thursday, September 17 – Santa Fe County La Cieneguilla Open Space Planning – La Cieneguilla residents are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday, September 23 – Sufi proposal to rezone Pierson Property to allow for a religious facility. Presentation by Jim Siebert.

Food Depot Food Drive

The LCVA is looking for a volunteer to accept donations of food at the community center from 11-2 at the community center, on Saturday, September 19. Please let me know by Saturday if you would like to volunteer. If no one comes forward we will have to wait until next year to participate in the annual event.

Photo Contest

Don’t forget to submit your photos for the Second Annual La Cienega Photo Contest. There will be a minimum of a $50 prize for each category with the Community Choice winner receiving a family membership to El Rancho de las Golondrinas and the Grand Prize winner gets a two-night stay at Buffalo Thunder.

Photos can be submitted through the end of September with winners announced at the November community breakfast.

Go to lcva-nm.org for contest details.

Community Party October

Thanks to the hard work of resident Bonnie McGahee the community party is coming together.

So far we have two music acts including a trio of teenagers from La Cienega. We are still working on kid activities that may include drone demonstrations, making soft ice cream in baggies and we may have everyone bring a flea market item to donate to help fund the event.

Please look forward to some community fun noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 10 on the infield at the Downs. More details to follow.

LCVA Board Issues

There have been some concerns expressed by the La Cienega and La Cieneguilla Planning Committee on the Land Use’s staff final work on our community ordinances. This will be an agenda item for Monday’s Board meeting.

There is a new BLM Field Office Manager for our area. The LCVA Board will be discussing ways to approach the new Manager with the hope and intent of improving our community’s relationship with the BLM.
