La Bajada Ranch Open House

Please see the press release below and come out to the ranch for the open house. It isn’t often that this special property is open to the public. Walk the grounds, explore trails and check out one of the largest ponds in the area. The main house is shuttered for health and safety reasons, but you can peek through the windows of the sprawling ranch style house.

Refreshments and information will be available in the foreman’s house just below the corrals toward the ponds. LCVA will provide drinks and chips and would also like to provide homemade salsas and baked goods to share with guests. Please contact Carl Dickens at cedickens2@yahoo.com to let him know what you can donate. You can bring what you make with you to the open house or drop it off with Carl Dickens at the community center from 8:15am to 8:45am Saturday morning.

Volunteers are also needed to manage refreshments in one or two hour shifts, respond to guest inquiries or tell stories about the area. We hope to have representatives from the acequias, the planning committee and residents who have an interest and understanding of the history and traditions of our community. Please let Carl know if you would like to volunteer.

This is an important opportunity for La Cienega, La Cieneguilla and El Canon residents to show the rest of Santa Fe County a little of our community hospitality.

La Bajada Ranch Open House

Santa Fe, NM – November 19, 2013 – The Santa Fe County La Bajada Ranch Steering Committee would like to invite the public to an Open House at the La Bajada Ranch (previously referred to as Santa Fe Canyon Ranch) in lower La Cienega on Saturday, November 23, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The public is invited to come visit the ranch, meet with La Bajada Ranch Steering Committee members and County Staff to learn about the ranch and the history of the ranch from long-time members of the La Cienega community. Refreshments will be available, courtesy of the La Cienega citizens.

The County purchased the ranch in 2009 and in developing approaches to best utilize the property, an Advisory Committee of local citizens and County Commissioners have been meeting for several months to generate possible ideas for the future use of the La Bajada Ranch. The committee will continue to meet and input from the citizens of Santa Fe County is always welcome.

Directions: Take I-25 south towards Albuquerque and take La Cienega exit 271. Take a left on the overpass. Turn right onto the East Frontage Road and continue to follow. Turn right onto Canada De Santa Fe and cross over the overpass to the entrance to the ranch
