LCVA News – August 31, 2015

Board and Breakfast September Schedule

Due to the Labor Day Holiday the LCVA Board Meeting will be held on Monday, September 14.

The Community Breakfast will be this Saturday, September 5 from 9-11 a.m. It will be a good one to attend. There is much community news to discuss and includes the following.

LCVA Quick Notes

Residents Kathleen McCloud and Carol Cooper will be organizing the La Cienega Halloween Event, October 31 at El Rancho de las Golondrinas. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer to help with the event, sign up sheet at the breakfast. It is a great and fun time.

The LCVA is negotiating with the Pueblo of Pojoaque to secure a date for a community potluck with music and children’s activities in early October. Resident Bonnie McGahee is heading up the community party and is looking for local and Pueblo musicians to be part of the show. The date and details for our community get together will be available soon.

The LCVA expects a formal press release announcing our comprehensive water monitoring program this week or early next week. It will include information on our fundraising efforts which will include crowdfunding in addition to our community fund raising. This is intended to secure funding for several years of water monitoring.

The LCVA would like to thank Ray and Emily Van Cleve for being the first residents to contribute to the monitoring program.

I continue to receive complaints about airplanes and noise issues. Here is what you can do. If you want to complain about air traffic and noise first call the airport at 955-2904 to register a noise complaint and/or call Federal Aviation Administration at 505-764-1200 to register a more formal complaint. In reporting planes that you feel are violating safe flying practices, make sure you note the time the incident took place and describe the plane in as much detail as possible.

The LCVA learned last Friday that a group practicing Sufism has purchased the Pierson home and property located on the south side of the entrance to Entrada La Cienega. There will be a meeting at the end of September to hear what the group plans to do with the property. Please look for meeting notices and please take the time to research this interesting religion.

The LCVA is seeking legal assistance for the residents who live in the condo/trailer park at the end of Paseo C’de Baca to ensure that the residents are aware of their condo association rights. Please contact the LCVA if you have any suggestion on assisting these residents.

Last Tuesday the County Commission conducted the second and final hearing on our amended community plan. A sincere community thanks to Gene Bostwick who chaired the Planning Committee and all the committee members who worked over the last four years to make it happen. Thanks!!
