Photo Contest

The final tally for the photo contest was 122 entries from 23 La Cienega-La Cieneguilla resident photographers. Please take the time to check out the wonderful array of photos posted on the LCVA web site. The judges will have some tough decisions to make.

Carl Dickens, LCVA President, wants to offer a sincere community thank you to Bob DeYoung who came up with the idea of the photo contest, put it together and managed the entire process. It was a job well done and his ability and willingness to assist residents in submitting photos was outstanding and appreciated.

Board Meeting

The agenda for Monday’s Board meeting is below.

It was previously indicated that we were postponing the LCVA Board and instead would hold a special LCVA Board legislative meeting the following Monday, August 11. We are still going to meet with our legislators on the 11th, but your wise and thoughtful Board members made it clear it was important to have our regular meeting to prepare for the meeting with our representatives and to discuss non-legislative community issues.

Summer Festival

Please don’t forget that tomorrow, Sunday, is the last day you can take advantage of free admission for La Cienega-La Cieneguilla residents to the El Rancho de las Golondrinas Summer Festival. Just go to the LCVA web site lcva-nm.org to print your free pass. Some of the highlights of the weekend are the Peruvian Paso Horse Shows (11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) and shoot outs by The New Mexico Gunfighters in the Baca Plaza (1:00, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.).

Management Plan for the Santa Fe River

Representatives of the Santa Fe River Traditional Communities Collaborative will be meeting with Mayor Gonzales later this month to discuss the need for a comprehensive management plan for the Santa Fe River below the City’s Waste Water Treatment Plant. This is an important step in addressing safety, flood and fire concerns and managing the beaver population along the river.

At the meeting with the mayor William Mee, President of the Agua Fria Village Association, and Carl Dickens, LCVA President, have been asked to present a brief history of the issues, as part of the SFRTCC presentation.
